Victoria Park maps 1900 and 2015

It’s intriguing to compare the map of Victoria Park which is on a sign at the Ellen Street entry of the park with a google earth view of the area.

Isn't it incredible that most of the pathways established in the original design have been maintained?
This may have happened mostly by people walking along them over the last 100+ years.

The circles and half circles are still there as well as the main straight paths. And the inner diamond. The outer diamond is just visible.

I’ve done oodles of research in newspapers of the time and have found out lots about the actual revegetation of the site, but not who designed the park.  Was hoping the Botanical Gardens archive may have something, but no. Any ideas, please comment.
